Jakarta – The Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) has criticised government efforts to overcome air pollution, which is being headed up by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

The government is scrambling to address Jakarta's perennial air pollution problem amid a public outcry over worsening air quality in recent weeks.

Dipo Negoro – On Sunday August 13, based on data from the IQAir air quality monitoring website at 6 am, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Jakarta stood at 170 or in the unhealthy category, with high levels of PM2.5 pollutants.

Jakarta – The Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) has revealed that land concessions for nickel mining in Indonesia reached 1,037,435.22 hectares in 2022.

Walhi campaign division head Puspa Dewy said that of this total, 765,237.07 hectares are located in forest areas.
